Basuki: 47 Percent of School Buildings in Jakarta Are Damaged

Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama admitted that 47 percent of school buildings in the capital are in damage condition. He targeted, there is no longer damage school in the upcoming 2017.

This is honestly shameful, where 47 percent of our school are damaged. Don't say safe, this is not safe

"This is honestly shameful, where 47 percent of our school are damaged. Don't say safe, this is not safe. They are really prone to collapse and very dangerous for students," he expressed, on the sidelines of safe school declaration, at City Hall, Tuesday (1/19).

He promised there is no longer damaged school next year. He can say such matter because this year's City Budget (APBD) reached Rp 67.4 trillion.

No More Unworthy School in 2017, Basuki Says

"I want Head of Education Dept to eliminate damaged schools next year, we'll take care of everything," he stated.

Hence, starting now, if there are principal or teacher who do not understand about safety, comfort and health must be dismissed. Because they must have the heart to pay attention to the students.

"I want the teacher to intensively monitor their student, they must have a heart. If it is not obeyed, just report it to his boss or sent message to me. Surely I will dismiss him/her," he asserted.
